The OS & OT Student Association is a student-led organization with the purpose of promoting a strong student community and connecting students with various organizations and communities. We work together with the University of Toronto (i.e. interprofessional education), Graduate Students’ Union, the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists, and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Some of our roles include organizing professional development opportunities, social events for students, intramural teams, and learning opportunities. We are also involved in fundraising for a different local charity each year to promote community involvement and strengthen community networks.
For the 2016-2017 year, we are raising money for Camp Winston and have organized a Raptors ticket raffle, candy grams, trivia night, and semi-formal to help fundraise. Team Rehab (OT/PT/SLP students) won all six Division II intramural awards. The OT classes have entered three boats into the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival. There will also be a number of students from the second year OT class travelling to PEI to present their research at the Annual CAOT Conference.
Mo-Ball Dodgeball Tournament & Moffee House – November 2016
In honour of Movember and to raise money for men’s health initiatives, student council organized a charity dodgeball tournament and Moffee House. Many teams of students competed against one another, with one team coming out on top! At Moffee House we were treated to the amazing talent of student musicians from both PT and OT programs.
